About Me

So just who am I, anyway?

I'm a Newton North Senior who's really into music.

I was officially introduced to the music world at age 6 through piano lessons. I really took to it right from the start; I never became a prodigy or anything like that, but I always tended to be eager to learn new things and hone my skills. I stopped taking piano when I was 11 for reasons (short version is I didn't want to quit, but there were various factors at play that prevented me from continuing).

I took up guitar in middle school. I didn't go straight into lessons at first, instead learning songs from the internet on my dad's old acoustic. Sometime in 7th grade, I heard the song "Klimbim" by Don Ross for the first time. This was my first step into the world of instrumental acoustic music.

Shortly thereafter, I knew that I wanted to make this type of music. I wrote my first song in eighth grade, and it was nothing special, but it was mine.

I continued to write and perform music all throughout high school, and even found a lot of opportunity playing bass in various bands. As a sophomore, I was part of a band called Toy Boat, which at the time of this writing has been my most successful endeavor.

In short, music has always been present in my life, so when I found out I had the opportunity to do this independent research project about essentially whatever I wanted, there was really no way in my mind that I could pass it up. And the rest is history!
