Question: To what extent does the science of music contribute to its emotional effects?
Thesis: Anyone can learn to play music. It’s not easy, but it can be done. People across the world pick up instruments for the first time every day, and music is being taught in increasingly new and interesting ways with every continuing lesson. Despite musicians being able to master their craft from the technical perspective, only a few have have questioned why what they know sounds the way it does. Many people are content with the answer that "it's just how it is," but I'm not one of those people. Through research of sound science and beyond, I will attempt to prove that there is something innately scientific about what makes certain music satisfying to the ear.
